Congratulations Michael Snow
Please join me in congratulating , professor of physics in the , on receiving a $6 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for research focused on nuclear precision measurement.
Michael, the principal investigator on the grant, will work with his co-PIs in the 91´«Ã½ experimental nuclear physics group—, , , , and —to conduct a wide variety of experiments at research laboratories worldwide as they seek to understand profound mysteries of our universe.
As part of the project, the team will investigate two broad scientific areas. The first is the nature of dark matter, as well as why the universe does not appear to possess large amounts of antimatter. In addition, they plan to subject the present model of particles and interactions to more stringent experimental tests and, in doing so, uncover new physical phenomena. The research will be conducted through precision experiments involving electrons, neutrons, and neutrinos to address fundamental questions in particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.
